Mediterranean | Day 73-76 | Switzerland | Zurich

This was  a long tedious travel day. My mom and I left the Amalfi Coast at 8:45 a.m. and I arrived in Zurich around 10 p.m. We took a van from the agriturismo to the Naples train station, then took a train to Rome, then a train to the Rome airport, then she flew to London and I flew to Zurich with a layover in Brussels.

There was a train ticket snafu in Rome. I don’t want to go into all the details because it will just bring up all the anger I am healthily suppressing deep down inside me. But I will say, if you book train tickets online, read the ENTIRE confirmation email. Scroll all the way down to the bottom. Some train conductors will accept a ticket code from that email which you’ve written in your travel journal. Other trains force you to use enter that code at a ticket kiosk at the station to print out an official ticket. If you fail to print it, you will pay for a new ticket on board the train at triple the original price. I guess only one transportation mishap in three months is still a good batting average. I never missed any of my flights or trains or car transfers, despite strikes and not having a working cell phone. But mistakes are so much more painful when they could have been avoided by reading all the instructions carefully. Lesson learned. You know, a lesson I should have learned in the 4th grade.
